Next up comes Lake Manyara National Park whose wildlife live their daily lives beneath the dramatic backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment, and on the shores of the sparkling lake itself… In Serengeti, you will have a full program of game drives, letting you explore the stunning and varied landscapes of this famous place. Then, you will finish your adventure in another Tanzanian gem, the incomparable crater of Ngorongoro, on the lookout for a black rhino.

Additional Activities

Balloon Safari

Enjoy a birds-eye view of the Serengeti National Park by adding a sunrise hot air balloon ride to your safari. A truly lifetime experience, gliding over the treetops as the sun peaks over the horizon and allows you to experience the endless Serengeti plains from an unparalleled perspective. Every hot balloon ride is unique as it depends on the direction of the wind and if luck is on your side you might be able to witness the Great Migration from above, although the herd is mobile and may only be in a particular area for a brief period of time.

Maasai Village
Probably the most famous of tribes, the Maasai were known primarily as warriors and shepherds. Visiting a Maasai village is the best way to learn about their culture.
When you arrive at the Maasai village, you can expect to be greeted in the traditional manner: plenty of singing and dancing, with participation very much encouraged! And after spending a day in their village, you will have experienced their culture first-hand and learned a lot about how life used to be several hundred of years ago and still is in some of the most remote areas.

Night game drive
You can take your safari experience to the next level by entering the world of Africa’s nocturnal predators on a wonderful night drive.

Night drives in,Lake Manyara National Park, for instance,  are magical just for the scenery itself, specially when the skies are clear and the moon is reflected in the lake. There is an abundance of elusive animals rarely seen during day, but incredibly active at night.

Ngorongoro Crater Walking

The largest unbroken caldera in the world – Ngorongoro Crater – is overflowing with wildlife. During this remote walking safari you will explore wildlife, extinct volcanoes and diverse landscapes, away from the crowds. The views and scenery are truly breathtaking.  You walk on an animal trail and may even encounter local Masaai with cattle.

Details

Welcome to Tanzania! You will be picked up from the airport by a our representative and driven to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you will hopefully have time to relax and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime! Busy Arusha is an essential part of safari life here in northern Tanzania and most travellers pass through at some stage.

Our guide will collect you from your accommodation after breakfast. This morning, you will drive to Tarangire National Park, your first taste of the wild on your luxury safari. The transit drive is approximately two and a half hours on good tarmac roads. Tarangire has a healthy population of wildlife, big and small.  The Park is famous for its herds of elephants that you may see meandering through the bush.  During the dry season, you may see them congregating at the river to enjoy a drink or just to cool off from the hot sun. In addition to this, the park is home to over 500 species of birds. The park, with its baobab-crested landscape, is beautiful.  Baobab trees tower above the savannah and these ancient trees play a vital role in the ecosystem as they are home to bees, birds, and bats.  They also provide nourishing fruit and are a source of water during the dry season. Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the Park. After your game drive, you will transit to your accommodation near the Park.

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park.  The park offers a wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides.  Apart from a spectacular setting, the park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the elephant herds it was established to protect. The shores of the lake attract 400 species of birds, many of them waterfowl or migrants.  Large herd of buffalo, cheetah, Masai Giraffe and impala roam the lake shores and the forested valley slopes. After a full day inside the Park you will make the short drive to your luxury accommodation in Karatu.

After breakfast, you will drive up into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There will be a chance to stop and see the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. You will then transit through Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti, entering at the South of the Park.

The Serengeti is truly spectacular. It is famous for its vast open grasslands which allow for excellent sightings of wildlife. Whilst it boasts abundant wildlife, it is perhaps best known for the annual Great Migration. Vast numbers of wildebeest; zebra and antelope move in an annual pattern, constantly seeking fresh grazing. The migration can be found during any given month; you just need to know where to look!

This entire day is set aside for game drives in the Serengeti. The Serengeti is arguably one of the most famous National Parks in the world. It is famous for its vast, open grasslands, which allow for excellent sightings of the abundant wildlife. It is one of the oldest ecosystems on earth and its climate and vegetation have remained largely untouched for millions of years. The Serengeti is home to a staggering variety of wildlife, but it is here that you have the best chance of seeing some of the predators in action, including lion, cheetah and leopard.

Today, it is possible to do early morning and late afternoon game drives, returning to the Camp for lunch.

Otherwise, a full day’s game drive with picnic lunch in the Park.

After breakfast, you will drive from Serengeti National Park to the Ngorongoro Crater. This Crater, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world.  It is reported that before it erupted, it would have been higher than Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa! Today, long since having collapsed and eroded, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth.

The drive down into the crater is an adventure in itself and when you reach the crater floor, you quickly find yourself amongst large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. The crater provides you with the best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands.

After a full afternoon inside the crater, you will head to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay in Karatu.

Today, you will be driven to your final destination e.g. Arusha Town, Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro Airport. Timings are dependent on your onward travel plans. We hope you have enjoyed your luxury safari in Tanzania with us!
